Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the Straw Shark safely?
The Straw Shark is intended for users ages 14 and up, as it contains small parts and magnets.
- Do not drink, suck, or blow through the straw while the brush is inserted.
- Always remove the brush before using the straw for drinking.
The Straw Shark contains neodymium magnets. While common in many everyday products, these magnets may interfere with implantable medical devices. If you have a pacemaker, ICD, or other implanted device, keep the Straw Shark at least 6 inches (15 cm) away to reduce the risk of temporary interference. Consult your physician if you have any concerns about safe use.
Will the Straw Shark work with my straws?
The Straw Shark is designed to be compatible with the most popular reusable straws on the market. See our compatibility guide for more.
Do you ship outside of the US?
Unfortunately, we don’t currently ship outside the United States, but we’re working on expanding internationally in the future.
How do I prevent the brush from getting stuck in my straw?
If your brush becomes stuck inside the straw, add a small amount of dish soap and water into the straw to lubricate the inside and help the Straw Shark’s magnets pull the brush out. For best results, apply dish soap and water to the brush before use - this helps clean the straw and lets the brush glide more easily. If you still have difficulty, the straw may be too narrow. The Straw Shark is designed for straws with an inner diameter of at least 5 mm; smaller straws may cause the brush to get stuck.
